Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet-

In March 2007, Versailles was formed by Kamijo (Lareine), Hizaki (Sulfuric Acid) and Jasmine You (Jyakura). Later, Teru (Aikaryu) and Yuki (Sugar Trip), who were recommended by the "Rock May Kan", a venue in Tokyo, joined the band.
Kamijo and Hizaki created the concept of Versailles in the autumn of 2006 and spent six months gathering members to express it. Their concept is “The absolute Youshikibi (beauty of form) sound and extremes of aestheticism”.
In March 2007, the details of the band were announced. They released promotional material through the Internet, set up an English language page on MySpace and have made several interviews with foreign press.
Versailles made their first appearance with a showcase on June 23, followed by their first performance on June 24. On these dates they also distributed their very first single and DVD single, The Revenant Choir.
The band signed a contract with the German CLJ Records label and released its first album, Lyrical Sympathy on October 31, both in Japan and Europe.[1] Their song, The Love From A Dead Orchestra also appears on the compilation album, released by Sony BMG in Germany on the November 9, called Tokyo Rock City.
In 2008, Versailles made their debut both in Europe and in America. In March and April, the band performed cooperatively with Matenrou Opera across Europe.[2] Versailles later performed on May 30 at Project A-Kon in Dallas, Texas, and on June 3 at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, California, to make an American debut.[3] It was reported in Jasmine You's personal blog and Teru's blog that the concert at Project A-Kon pulled in over 3,000 people, and the live at the Knitting Factory was completely sold out.
On July 9, 2008, Versailles digitally released their first full album, Noble exclusively on international iTunes Music Stores. This was followed by its general Japanese CD release on July 16 and its international CD release on July 30.
Because of a U.S. artist with the same name, Versailles had to change their U.S. territory name. It was officially announced on August 19, 2008 that it was changed to "Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet-". Their first single released under this name is "Prince"

Hizaki

Hizaki debuted as the guitarist for the independent band Garnet Grave in 1998. The following year, Hizaki and bassist Hisume departed from Garnet Grave to join Crack Brain with the guitarist Airi (Madeth Gray'll).
Eventually, Crack Brain disbanded, and Hizaki later formed a band which came to be known as Schwardix Marvally. Having worked with Airi in Crack Brain, Airi recommended Hizaki to his former bandmate, vocalist Hisui (Madeth Gray'll). They released two EPs, one comprised of various cover songs from various different bands. Soon after releasing the two EPs, Schwardix Marvally disbanded.
Hizaki proceeded to join Sulfuric Acid, simultaneously starting a solo career and released Maiden Ritual in 2004. In the following year, he published two more EPs Dance with Grace and Maiden Ritual -Experiment Edition- with a variety of Japanese musicians in the Visual Kei movement. In 2006, Hizaki announced a solo project, Hizaki grace project, and released the album Dignity of Crest with Juka (Moi Dix Mois) as vocalist. 2007 brought the announcement of Versailles with several established Visual Kei musicians.
Hizaki grace project's latest album, Curse of Virgo, was released on December 26, 2007

The Gazette (band)

In March 2002, Ruki, Uruha, and Reita (all former band mates), and Aoi and Yune (also former band mates) formed a band under the name Gazette.[2] Originally signed to Matina, they released their first single, "Wakaremichi", and a video release in April. By September they had released two more singles and another video, headlining a show for the first time in October.
In early 2003, Yune decided to leave the band, and he was replaced by Kai. Shortly after, they signed with the PS Company label, and in May released their first EP, Cockayne Soup. They started their first tour, with the band Hanamuke, and along with the tour, the bands collaborated on two songs. A second tour followed with the band Vidoll, and the bands were featured together on the November issue of Cure, a magazine focusing on Visual Kei bands.[3]
In early December they played a co-headlining show with Deadman. On December 28 they performed at Fool's Mate magazine's Beauti-fool's Fest which was later released on DVD.
On January 16, 2004 they recorded a solo performance at the Shibuya-AX, which was released on DVD as Tokyo saihan ~Judgement Day~.[2] On March 30, 2004 they released their Madara mini-album, which reached #2 on the Oricon Indie Charts. Madara was followed in May by a companion DVD, which included six music videos and an in-the-studio documentary. The same month, Gazette was featured in Shoxx magazine's Expect Rush III, a catalogue of independent Visual Kei artists.[4] A second live DVD, Heisei Banka, was released in August.[2] During September and October they toured with fellow PS Company bands Kra and BIS. Their debut album, Disorder, was released in October, and made it to the top 5 of the indies Oricon Daily Charts.
The band spent the remainder of 2004 and 2005 touring extensively, releasing Gama (another mini album) in August.
In 2005 the band released their first major label single, Cassis, in December.[5]
Starting 2006 with a name change—from Japanese characters to a romanized script—they released Nil, their second full-length album, on February 8, 2006,[2] and embarked on another Japanese tour, ending at the venue Nippon Budokan.[6] That July, The Gazette performed at the Beethovenhalle in Bonn, Germany, their first show outside of Asia. The concerts were arranged in conjunction with the AnimagiC anime and manga convention.[7]
Three more singles were released followed by another studio album, Stacked Rubbish on July 4, 2007. It reached #2 on the Oricon charts within a day from the release. The album debut was followed by a promotional tour from July through September. In October, The Gazette started their first European tour stopping England, Finland, France, and Germany.
A single called "Guren" was released on February 13, 2008, which landed a #1 spot on the Oricon Charts, and it was announced that a new DVD would be released in August, and a new single Leech in Autumn 2008.[8]

The band released even more singles in 2006 until their second studio album, Magnya Carta (a play on "Magna Carta").
In 2007, the band announced their first overseas appearance at Project A-Kon. The announcement of this was followed shortly by the departure of guitarist, Bou. The last performance with Bou was on April 30, 2007, and was featured in a DVD titled Hibiya On *The* o New Sekai.
